Parliament will felicitate the Sri Lanka Cricket Team today, according to a decision taken by party leaders today, sources said.

The cricket team that won the T-20 World Cup beating India on Sunday arrived in the country yesterday.  The party leaders who met in the parliamentary complex decided to cancel today’s programme, and instead decided to devote that time to felicitate the team for bringing glory to the country.

Accordingly, the team will arrive in the parliamentary complex today. Earlier, the government had scheduled a debate of some finance bills for today. (KB and YP)

Let us hope that it will not be just a tamasha. Our parliamentarian have much to learn from the cricketers so let us hope these qualities will rub off on them!

We are making mockery of our Parliament. May be because we have sent CLOWNS to represent us to the hallowed house. via DM iPad app

Our country is know to the world because of cricket and once in Olympic. So when it goes to the parliament we have a question mark what will happen to our sports also in the country.

Parliaments in first world wealthy countries like Aus and Eng will never cancel sessions to welcome a sporting team. What a joke. No wonder SL is still third world poor country.

This is really a nice gesture. Great and this hard working team, dedicated to their job deserves this. It will be fantastic if this team members can replace some of those guys already in the parliament. These boys will certainly do a much better job for us We have really great diplomats (outstanding two in our cricket team.

This is unnecessary and absurd. Im a big fan and supporter of Sri Lankan cricketers. But to cancel the parliament program when an important debate had been scheduled to take place is madness. Surely the president will host the team at temple trees for a dinner where all parlinentarians can meet and greet the team, so why cancel the parliament program. Get your priorities right!!
