A 12-hour water cut would be imposed between 9.00 am to 9.00 pm tomorrow (10th) due to maintenance works at the Kalatuwawa water treatment plant, the Water Supply and Drainage Board announced today.
As such the water supply to Maharagama, Boralesgamuwa, Pannipitiya, Kottawa, Homagama, Rukmalgama, Pelenwatta, Mattegoda, Godagama, Meepe and Padukka would be interrupted.

I agree, I have lived in Australia and the UK, and this never happens, certainly not in a near weekly basis.

I live in theUK and when in Sri Lanka have repeatedly enquired from the authorities why electricity and water are closed off when there is maintainence in Sri Lanka. This never happens in UK and other countries. I know of eg Austrlaia, Canada etc

It is because Sri Lanka is having a ancient distribution network rather than a loop system in which water can reach suburbs by re-routing. Still very much a developing country although we don't want to admit it!
