Hirunika Premachandra, the daughter of slain former MP Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra lodged  a complaint at the Police headquarters late last night alleging that she had received credible information that a contract has been given to kill her.

“I have received credible information that a contract has been given to kill me. This was first revealed by the media and upon further investigation, I found out that the information was in fact credible and reliable,” she said.

Hirunika said she made the complaint because there was an imminent threat to her life and because she wanted further security. “There is an imminent threat to my life. I came to the Police to make them aware of the current situation which is very unclear to all of us,” she said.

Resolve to follow the footsteps of your late father who fought for the downtrodden, no mater from where the threat comes.

No politician who tries to become 'somebody' by force always ends up a 'nobody' at the end. George Bush, Gaddafi, Tony Blair, John Howard to name a few. They are exposed at the end and we all know them for their dirty deeds than anything else now. Take Laksman Kadirgamar, JFK, Martin Luther King.. They will always be remembered for their greatness in serving their people whist asking for nothing in return or personal gain. We dont have any politician now who isn't a drama queen. Sad but our fault!

Dear Hirunika, you are a great human being.I do not know your farther, but what I have heard about him, he was a gentleman and true and a honest politician. Take care Hirunika, Sri Lanka has become a country with no credibility. If you are a thug, drug peddler or a theif you have a place.I wish you all the best and hope those who commited the crime will brought before the justice system and proved to be guilty, then throw the book at them.

    samosa Tuesday, 24 April 2012 01:07 AM

    Who is holding the remote?

    SUNILA Tuesday, 24 April 2012 01:43 AM

Hirunika, You are really brave to take head on the powerful regime. If you are to seek justice you have to have a civil society organisation which is actively involved in protecting rights of people to back you. You are young and cannot fight this battle alone. Tell the world what is happening.May you be protected to fight for the rights of your self and others. This death threat may be to shut up your mouth.

    ajith Tuesday, 24 April 2012 02:27 AM

So if harm befell the culprit will be the Government.
We will have endless problems with UN human rights...
