Heavy rains to continue

The Meteorology Department said today heavy falls exceeding 100mm were likely at some places in the Western, North western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts during the afternoon or evening.

It said showers would occur at several places in the Central, Northern and North Central Provinces and in the Hambanthota district as well.

North east monsoonal winds could strengthen up to 50 kmph at times over the island and surrounding sea areas, the Department said.
