Habeas Corpus application filed

The wife of Kugan Muruganadan and the father of Lalith Kumar Weeraraj filed a habeas corpus application in the Court of Appeal requesting to produce human right activists Kugan and Lalith who went missing on December 9 in Jaffna, before Court.

In this petition, Jaffna Army Commander, Army Commander, IGP and Attorney General were cited as respondents.   

The petitioners are seeking the Court to direct the police to produce Kugan Muruganadan and Lalith Kumar Weeraraj who were allegedly abducted by unknown persons.

The petition had been filed through senior counsel J.C. Weliamuna, Thenura Abeywardena and Nuwan Bopage under the instructions of Anusha Wickremasinghe. (Lakmal Sooriyagoda)
