The Government will make arrangements to send Muslims who do not have the financial means to visit Mecca on the Haj pilgrimage, President Mahinda Rajapaksa said today.

Addressing a ceremony held at Trincomalee, he said only Muslims who are financially able go on Haj pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia and therefore, the government would launch a programme to send poor Muslims to Mecca as it was the desire of all Muslims to go on Haj pilgrimage to Mecca at least once in a life time.

Poor or rich Muslims are not going to get any salvation just by going to Mecca, unless they follow the religious principles. Rather than babbling gundus, get all government ministers and MPs, PS members, to follow the principles of the religion they follow, and give leadership to the people of the country to be virtuous. They are only involved in bribery, corruption, rape, drug dealing, thuggery, womanizing, etc. People follow them. After that what is use of going to Mecca, or Buddhagaya, or Jerusalem?
