The Government doctors will launch a 24-hour countrywide strike from 8am tomorrow, the GMOA announced today.

It said hospital services including the OPD units and other services would not function but emergency services would continue as usual.

GMOA sources said the strike was launched because the government had failed to increase the basic salaries and special allowances of doctors and had not provided a special transport allowance enjoyed by other state sector employees. (Olindhi Jayasundere)

OTHER STATE SECTORS ARE NOT DOING PRIVATE PRACTICE. OTHERWISE STOP ALL PRIVATE PRACTICE BY DOCTORS

    MP Wednesday, 24 October 2012 10:58 AM

YOU CANNOT COMPARE OTHER STATE SECTORS WITH THE MEDICAL PROFESSION!!! THE SALARY A DOCTOR GETS IS BY FAR LESS THAN WHAT OTHER STATE SECTOR CLERKS GET E.G THE PORTS AUTHORITY!!! SO MIND YOUR SHOUTY CAPITALS!!!

Stop Privatepractice for Doctors !!! All doctors if they are working for government.

Make it an allowance for no provate practice. If found practicing provately, that allowance is cancelled for life. How is that ?

Doctors and Teachers have the priviledge of engaging in private income generation work unlike other State employees, even worst is that some of them get caught doing this during their working hours.
The Country cannot afford all these at this moment of time, so please Doctors conduct yourself responsibly and safe guard the dignity of the profession.

So if the doctors want a better salary join the port!?

    Gadzooks Wednesday, 24 October 2012 02:04 PM

Look you all! Thousands of people would not be able to get a doctor's attention if that doctor did not do private practice in the villages in the hours after they finish work in the government hospitals. In my village lots and lots of people simply cannot hop into their vehicle, if they had one, and go off to an OPD in a government hospital in the middle of the morning.

Now time has come to control the thuggary of the nurses & doctors. This has gone to uncontrollable level such as one time CTB bus people did in our schooling days. So many people have died due to mismanagement of the health sector. There are few good doctors & other staff members but they have no say over this thuggary after consuming grate % of the GDP.

I see a lot of the docs have visited this page from the likes. One doc is saying that a clerk is earning more than him as basic. So we live in a country where a clerk is earning 40,000 when he starts the job? Come on don't say such lies. At least check the government gazzates for jobs.

Did you become a doctor to serve the sick or to make money? If it's the latter then feel free to join the Ports Authority as a clerk.

I want to tell something to these jealousy peoples…..Gov Doctors work 7days per week even in public holydays with high risk & high strain…
for a e.g… take a doctor in gyn&obs wards… they do 12hours on call for 1200/- & do more than 5 cesarean on that night …. So 200/- per CS…. In private sectors it cost more than 20,000/- for doc fee….
In gov Doctors basic salary 26,160/- do u think its fair….
