Parliament is expected to be dissolved at midnight tomorrow and General elections are expected to be held on April 8, a top government Minister told Daily Mirror online on the condition of anonymity.
The final session of Parliament was held last Friday and President Mahinda Rajapaksa who is currently in Russia is expected to sign the papers tomorrow dissolving parliament in order to conduct the General elections, the official said.
Nominations for the General elections will be called between February 19-26, the Minister further added. The key political parties contesting the elections including the ruling UPFA and the main opposition UNP are in the process of finalizing the nominations of their parties for the elections. Here we go another round of mud slinging and use of state TV and newspapers to completly brain wash the voter. Is the police this time too going to arrest and even jail opposition candidates? Elections are a big farce in Sri Lanka and the result is known at the time of nominations- two thirds majority to MR and his gang!!!

Another round of humiliation to UNP and JVP

No need of election, we know the results now! God bless Sri Lanka!

No surprises here: results are already known as it is going to be just a repeat of the Presidential Elections with total misuse of state property, abuse of state controlled media, thuggery, threats to personal freedom etc. and to top it all with the very same incompetent Elections Commissioner who wanted to run away but has now changed his mind (possibly forced to do so to take advantage by those in power). At the end of the day, a sheer waste of country's resources, just to show the world that we have a 5-star demo-crazy !

I think when people have had enough of one party propaganda they will think of a different view. Unfortunately, it will be too late. By then , the govt. would have rooted so deep into the system, only a change of faces will be possible. Example - Zimbabwe, befoe it was ZANU and ZAPU, ZAPU leaders were absorbed and then destroyed. Mugabe came in for one term and ended up with 30 yrs. +.

God bless you UNP/JVP. Prepare for some new excuses for the certain defeat. Better start now.
