General Sarath Fonseka was refused lunch today by military officials when one of his aides had visited him while the military said that only Mrs. Anoma Fonseka had access to the detained General, the Democratic National Alliance (DNA) said.

According to the DNA, one of the General’s relatives had taken lunch for him today as Mrs. Anoma Fonseka had been out of Colombo.

However the relative was forced to turn back after the military had not granted permission.

However the military said that a visitors list which was handed over to the Attorney General had not been sent to Navy Head quarters. The name of this relative is reported to have been included in the said list.

Military Spokesman Major General Prasad Samarasinghe who commented on the matter said that only Mrs. Fonseka has been granted permission to visit and provide food to General Sarath Fonseka who is being detained at the Navy Headquarters.

“We have not received any new list of individuals that General Fonseka wants to meet officially”, Major General Samarasinghe said. (SD & YP)

How many thousands starved and died during the last phase of war???

    Tuesday, 23 March 2010 11:26 PM

SF should bear this, for the moment. The evil rulers will not rule forever.

    Monday, 22 March 2010 08:16 PM

    Earning minus-points for the government.

    Monday, 22 March 2010 08:08 PM

Is Sarath Fonseka a bad guy, compared to Karuna?

    Monday, 22 March 2010 06:51 PM

MR and this govt have NO CLASS!

    Monday, 22 March 2010 06:49 PM

Deny a man his meal because of procedures? Come-on, this is another violation of human rights. Or the military thinks that the General is not human!

    Monday, 22 March 2010 06:38 PM

Shame on the government ... inhuman rulers and rules.

    Monday, 22 March 2010 06:36 PM

I don't think the General will return alive, from detention; the way they treat this war hero is disgusting.

    Monday, 22 March 2010 06:33 PM

I am sure there are valid concerns for not allowing others to bring in food for the detained person, as SF could be poisoned, and then the government would be blamed for it.

    Monday, 22 March 2010 01:08 PM

pls it seem to be very bad playing with meals and vialation of human rights pls let him have meals so that GOV can question more if he is steady.

    Monday, 22 March 2010 01:08 PM

Good excuse to starve him to death.....best remedy. No blame on anyone. King Raja and his siblings will reign supreme

    Monday, 22 March 2010 12:58 PM

The government is playing around with lists and figures at the expense of a man's life.

    Monday, 22 March 2010 12:07 PM

May be he doesnt like today's lunch. He will take dinner

    Monday, 22 March 2010 12:41 PM

Good job starve the fellow to death.Let the thugs from East and North driv around in DPL cars.

    Monday, 22 March 2010 12:39 PM

Poor general is starving. If Chandrika knew she would have invited him for the luncheon with the foreign diplomats.

    Monday, 22 March 2010 12:37 PM

Is this the Buddha's way? I wonder whether there is anything more they can do to the General. Even if he has done wrong things, is this the way to treat him. Is MR, GR and others lily white? What surprises me is there are actually those who insult the General and praise MR and rest. Can there be such stupid people.

    Monday, 22 March 2010 12:35 PM

Just try to bear, General. They are only helping you to get more and more votes.

    Monday, 22 March 2010 12:24 PM

    Govt is collecting minus points.

    Monday, 22 March 2010 12:23 PM

Under Humanitarian grounds, the Army Provost Marshal should have allowed the relative to bring in SF's lunch. It seems that they want to kill SF little by little.

    Monday, 22 March 2010 12:20 PM

not even letting him eat .... dont worry General, just hang in there... you are the real hero in our hearts

    Monday, 22 March 2010 12:14 PM

Why these people are so worried of this man.
Is he more dangerous terrorist than Prabakaran.
He might be thinking of his fault of not letting survive some LTTE carders.

    Monday, 22 March 2010 12:12 PM

    WOW,Another Hunger Strike

    Monday, 22 March 2010 12:08 PM

    I feel like crying !.
