The JVP claimed today that General Sarath Fonseka, who is in military detention, was in poor health after developing breathing difficulties as a result of a cough and urged the government to provide him with place with better ventilation.

General Sarath Fonseka has developed a cough which has caused him breathing difficulties, JVP parliamentary group leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake said

“According his wife Mrs. Anoma Fonseka, we knew about it. We again ask the government to provide him with adequate ventilation,” he said.

Mr. Dissanayake said, “Only Mrs. Fonseka can visit her husband in military custody despite the court order which permits close relatives Gen. Fonseka to visit him. The government appears to have done this to keep Mrs. Fonseka always occupied with    attendance to her husband. Then, she cannot participate in campaign meetings.” (KB)

This is called as God's punishment.

    Thursday, 25 March 2010 12:31 PM

MR WILL BE HAPPY IF ANYTHING BAD HAPPENS TO SF. BUT HE SHOULD KNOW THE POLITICAL BACKLASH WILL UNSETTLE HIM FOR GOOD.

    Thursday, 25 March 2010 12:27 PM

THEN HE WILL TELL THE TRUTH

    Thursday, 25 March 2010 10:54 AM

There is no much time to MR and his regime to face the consequences of this. I am very regret to hear the condition of great SF

    Thursday, 25 March 2010 10:52 AM

You mean president is responsible for SF's health issues?

    Thursday, 25 March 2010 10:51 AM

    what consequences?

    Thursday, 25 March 2010 01:32 PM

British law, or the law of any civilized country is that a man is innocent, until proven guilty.

    Friday, 26 March 2010 03:24 PM

All rogues end-up at the 'Merchants' ward.' But, a war hero who had the 'nerve' to challenge a corrupt government, ends-up behind bars!

    Friday, 26 March 2010 06:37 AM

SF is a brave man who fought fearless with the terrorists.
By looking at the comments by some people that this is a drama, he should repent etc... show how ungraful they are to the person who won them the war.
They will learn a lesson one day for going behind these corrupt, dishonest politicians.

    Thursday, 25 March 2010 11:31 PM

Most of our Sri Lankans have forgotten who won the war. Credit must go to this Genaral who helped to win the war. At the same time to the fallen heros and other brave soldiers.

    Thursday, 25 March 2010 10:25 PM

SF is the biggest 'drama queen' of this decade! Another dramatic act ...

    Thursday, 25 March 2010 09:55 PM

If this were another country, by now, the true patoriots and grateful citizens would have got on to the streets in protest ...

    Thursday, 25 March 2010 08:14 PM

General ... it's SL's loss, what has happened to you ...

    Thursday, 25 March 2010 07:32 PM

In Sri Lanka ... no compassion for opponents.

    Thursday, 25 March 2010 07:03 PM

THEY WANT TO SEE FONSEKA DIE IN THE CELL. WHAT A COUNTRY WE ARE LIVING IN!

    Thursday, 25 March 2010 09:43 AM

He does't want sympathy votes, but you show some sympathy for this former general.

    Thursday, 25 March 2010 05:07 PM

Every one has good time and bad time in the life.
Wait and see the time will chage soon.

When pay back time comes, remember there is an added interest to be paid too.

    Thursday, 25 March 2010 02:19 PM

This is exactly what they want.
If they do this to the No 1 War hero of the country,
They can do any thing to us.

    Thursday, 25 March 2010 08:01 AM

It is the JVP who are keeping SF in prison. If he is released he would go with the JVP and betray the heroic soldiers with the westerners.

    Thursday, 25 March 2010 07:57 AM

The Govt. should realise that the whole world is watching the turn of events. Who would take the responsibility for this situation, only the Govt should and is answerable.

    Thursday, 25 March 2010 07:45 AM

i think public should responsible if happend anything to SF. becouse every one knows that president waiting something to happen him.

    Thursday, 25 March 2010 07:44 AM

So, Chanel a VP doctor to cure the situation. Otherwise this will be end of the story.

    Thursday, 25 March 2010 08:25 AM

LTTE could not kill him but the SL Army will do it. What a twist of fate.

    Thursday, 25 March 2010 07:40 AM

Oh what a 'touch-me-not' the world's greatest Army Commander has turned into.

    Thursday, 25 March 2010 07:37 AM

MR as usual will appoint a commission.

    Thursday, 25 March 2010 07:30 AM

when the rueling power is going to end, same thing will happen for concerned idiotical culprits.

    Thursday, 25 March 2010 09:23 AM

Wisdom - do you think only MR and his supporters do politics in SL. Think about your wisdom twice.

    Thursday, 25 March 2010 08:50 AM

Would SF prefer Army Hospital to be chained to a bed, like we heard a lot of soldiers were, during his time?

    Thursday, 25 March 2010 08:50 AM

If SF is reaping what he sowed, when will MR reap what he is sowing now.

    Thursday, 25 March 2010 07:01 AM

    Sympathy Votes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Thursday, 25 March 2010 08:47 AM

Well said Wisdom...Ones choices determine his/her future...If you have earned heroism, you must know how to maintain it too. Country and the nation first. nothing else...

    Thursday, 25 March 2010 08:33 AM

If the complaint came from Sarath Fonseka's wife it is a matter of concern. But, JVP's claim is just hogwash.

    Thursday, 25 March 2010 08:29 AM

JVP, this is your own campaign in the forthcoming election to get more sympathy votes. Is there anything being scheduled for next two weeks?
