Fire at tourist hotel in Kalpitiya

Forty foreign tourists had been evacuated following a fire that broke out at a tourist hotel in Kalpitiya last night, the Police said

The cause of the fire is not yet known.

Kalpitiya Police and villagers doused the fire and the tourists were transferred to other hotels in the area.  No casualties were reported.

The main building and seventeen Cabanas of the hotel had been gutted by the fire, the Police said.

Kalpitiya Police are investigating. Police are deployed at the scene to protect the property.(DS)

    Thank God that there were no one hurt. More attention should be given to safety when hotels and cabans are built

    Unless it is an act of vandalism most of fire damages in hotels occur as a result of improper maintenance of sauna!!
