Falling glass kills youth

A 26 year-old youth was killed in a glass warehouse in Mahaiyawa, Kandy when several pieces of glass fell on him yesterday, Police said.

The victim, a resident of Gelioya, was employed at the warehouse, they said. He succumbed to his injuries after he was admitted to the Kandy hospital.

IS COMPANY SUPPLYING SAFETY GEAR AND INSURANCE COVER TO THE STAFF. THIS SHOULD BE A MUST IN THIS KIND OF COMPANIES. VERY SAD INCIDENT

The warehouse owner should be responsible in such an event and the victim should be compensated according to the legalities in Sri Lanka. It is a hot debate whether cheap glasses should be imported to the country without any quality assurance. Do inform the relevant authorities please on behalf of this victim.Dr. Sudharma- Auastralia

Very appropriate. Yes all inferior things from China and India are in the market, which can be very harmful to people.. Quality Assurance should be put in place while these r imported to the country... btw Dr is u r the one who used to drive a white Daihatsu which broke down on ur way to teh Airport..I was teh one who gave u a ride so that u could catch the flight.. :P
