Former Army Commander Sarath Fonseka said that former IGP Mahinda Balasuriya had sacrificed his position when he tried to protect corrupt politicians.

“The IGP sacrificed his position when he tried to protect corrupt politicians and I asked the members of the security forces not to fall into the same predicament,” the former Army Chief told journalists just before he left the Colombo High Court.

Former IGP Balasuriya tendered his resignation days after the clash between the police and Free Trade Zone workers at Katunayake, where one of the workers was killed due to police fire. (Dailymirror Online)

Very rarely you see IGP awake. Most of the time he was sleeping even during Press conferences and Protests. Politicians does his job and he sacrificed his job by sleeping. I wonder why in this case the particular official did not announce saying he gave direct orders like he did when SF was heading Army.
