Attack on student protest: PM requests report

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe had requested a report from Law and Order Minister Tilak Marapana on the police crackdown of the Higher National Diploma in Accountancy (HNDA) students protest in front of the University Grants Commission (UGC) yesterday.

A spokesman from the Prime Minister’s office told Daily Mirror that Mr. Wickremesinghe has summoned Minister Marapana last night to Temple trees for an urgent meeting.

Accordingly, Mr. Wickremesinghe had requested Mr. Marapana to carry out an investigation immediately.

Meanwhile, the Law and Order Ministry Secretary said they have requested the IGP to prepare a report immediately on the incident.  (Yohan Perera)
