England's captain Stuart Broad won the toss in a must-win game and put Sri Lanka in to bat in the last Super Eights match in Group 1 at the World Twenty20 on Monday at Pallekelle

England made three changes from the side that defeated New Zealand on Saturday, dropping opening batsman and wicketkeeper Craig Kieswetter, fast bowler Tim Bresnan and left-arm spinner Danny Briggs.

Offspinner Samit Patel, allrounder Ravi Bopara and fast bowler Jade Dernbach were brought in, with Jonny Bairstow to keep wickets.

Sri Lanka surprisingly opted to change its captain for the match, Kumar Sangakkara leading the side in place of Mahela Jayawardene.

The hosts also made one change, bringing in spinner Akila Dananjaya in place of Rangana Herath.
