Eight people injured in train accident

Three people who were travelling in a hearse were injured when a train heading to Colombo from Palai crashed into it at the Thelangapatha railway crossing in Wanawasala this afternoon.

Police said five people travelling in two three-wheelers and a pedestrian were also injured when the three-wheelers were caught up in the accident.
The victims were admitted to the Ragama Hospital.

The railway track to Colombo Fort was temporarily closed for repairs, the Railway Control Room said. (Chaturanga Pradeep, Lal S. Kumara)
