Motorists travelling to Colombo on the Southern Expressway (E01) are advised to use the exit points at Kadawatha and Athurugiriya to avoid possible vehicle congestion, mainly at the Kottawa exit point, tomorrow, the RDA officials said.

A large number of vehicles are expected to use the E01 following the four-day long holiday, which started on Thursday, December 24.

This is a good example showing the poor desigh of the E01 highway. The exits are not capable of handling the traffic on a holiday. A highway will payback itself in about 20 to 25 years. Sri Lanka it will be longer. Can this highway handle traffic 10 years from now?
