Two suspects were arrested along with the weapon used for the killing of Dr. Prasad Jayasinghe in Thalgashandiya in Karandeniya on September 29, police spokesman Ajith Rohana said.
The reason behind the killing however, is yet to be established. Three teams from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) began conducting investigations into the killing of a 40 year old doctor in Thalgahahandiya, Karandeniya outside his dispensary which was carried out by two unidentified men who came on a motorbike.
The initial inquiries were conducted by five police teams under Southern Province DIG Vijaya Amerasinghe. However the CID took over the investigations as there was suspicion over the death of Dr. Jayasinghe.
Dr. Prasad Jayasinghe was gunned down when he was about to cross the road to get into his car around 10pm after finishing work at his private dispensary. (Supun Dias)
