The Sri Lankan government will present its first draft of proposed solutions to New Delhi in June, Asiantribune quoted government sources as saying.

The proposals will be presented by President Mahinda Rajapakse to Indian Premier Dr. Manmohan Singh as well as the President of India Pratibha Patil in June during President Rajapakse's official visit to New Delhi.

President Mahinda Rajapakse is scheduled to visit India for official discussions on an invitation by Indian Premier Dr. Manmohan Singh.

Among key suggestions in Sri Lanka's draft proposals to New Delhi are the implementation of the 13th Amendment and increase of Provincial Council powers, increasing minority involvement through a newly created 'Senate Chamber' and new measures to ensure equality among all Sri Lankans, Asiantribune reported.

Where is General Weerawansa, once said no to India and WB and so on???

    Monday, 24 May 2010 09:34 AM

    Wishful thinking.

    Monday, 24 May 2010 09:37 AM

This is the time country need SF.

    Monday, 24 May 2010 04:49 PM

Why should we present any solution to India?

    Monday, 24 May 2010 10:22 AM

What a stupid bunch we all are. We are screaming at UN for porking their finger in to our Internal Matters. While we are taking proposals to India. Then what the tamil says is true Sri Lanka does not belong to Singhala People but to Tamils. Then I guess MR will have to bring that proposal to Muslim and European Countries also after there are Muslims & Christians as a minority so they too should discuss what the said proposals are.

    Monday, 24 May 2010 05:39 PM

MR is a puppet of India?

    Monday, 24 May 2010 06:01 PM

Why India? Put the draft-proposal before the citizens of our county!

    Monday, 24 May 2010 10:53 AM

After drafting the solution president should meet the people in Sri Lanka Specially the tamil people. Why going after India. It should be acceptable to Sri lankan tamils not to Indians.

    Monday, 24 May 2010 11:02 AM

We did not fight a bloody war to go and ask India what to do next. If we are going to do what India wants us to do, why the hell did we fight the war killing so many innicent people. Who is more wise now. Is it MR or RW?

    Monday, 24 May 2010 08:11 PM

Maharaja is 'dancing' to the music of India!

    Monday, 24 May 2010 09:16 PM

Mahinda could, and certainly would build-up Sri Lanka, from the ruins, by submitting a concreate peace proposal to India.

    Monday, 24 May 2010 06:38 AM

    Bla bla blaaa.

    Monday, 24 May 2010 06:42 AM

No point in presenting draft solution. It is now more than 60 years, the ethnic problem has not been resolved.Better the President go to India with a firm proposal to the problem.

    Monday, 24 May 2010 06:47 AM

What solution...what is the problem ?

    Monday, 24 May 2010 06:52 AM

Why we should present our draft solution to India ???
Is Sri Lanka one of the province of India ????

    Monday, 24 May 2010 07:00 AM

Fazlan, I agree with you. Were is our seoveringty??? it is like taking a letter you composed to the boss for an endorse!!!

    Monday, 24 May 2010 07:04 AM

It is just a first draft only, how many years do we wait for Final draft, god only knows?, buy that time may not need a solution ....

    Monday, 24 May 2010 07:20 AM

Useless drafting so many documents - PLEASE IMPLEMENT WHAT IS ALREADY THERE - like the 13th & 17th Amendments. Expedite the independent Constitutional, Police, Bribery & Elections Commissioners. What has India got to do with our solutions.
we seem to be holding candles to India & China - for what. I though we need home-grown solutions.

    Monday, 24 May 2010 07:21 AM

I also agree with Fazlan and Henarala, First it should be presented to the parties concen to this problem and discussed and come to a concenses to solve this problem. What has India got to do with this problem. they only want every thing to their interest and can make matters worse here. and also surprise to see how Champaka and Wimal respond to this

    Monday, 24 May 2010 07:30 AM

I felt a bad taste in the mouth whilst reading this and terms like 'sovereignty ', 'satellite state' etc , crossed the mind in quick succession. Then the reality underlying our relations with India dawned. Have we really the option to proceed in any other way in this context?

    Monday, 24 May 2010 07:44 AM

Please, 1st show it to the minorities in SL, Because they should see it 1st.

    Monday, 24 May 2010 07:56 AM

Be ready to get left and right from India, if you don't present the draft in the way India wanted.

    Monday, 24 May 2010 07:57 AM

This is very good move. There is no point in showing a proposal to any political party in Sri Lanka, as they will always find fault in it. It is best to work with India and get the hooligans to shut-up and get the government that has got the mandate to execute the proposal. This is the only way forward to us Tamils to stay peaceful in Sri Lanka.

    Monday, 24 May 2010 08:06 AM

If India rejects the same what next ?

    Monday, 24 May 2010 08:13 AM

I think proposal is to identify, is there an ethnic problem.

    Monday, 24 May 2010 08:15 AM

We are bound with India from long time. Our generation started from India, Buddhism came from India. So what's the issue having close relationship with India ??

    Monday, 24 May 2010 08:16 AM

    You correct !!!

    Monday, 24 May 2010 08:17 AM

I do not think even Karunanidhi shows everything to his bosses in India like we do!

    Monday, 24 May 2010 08:29 AM

Where are the big mouths gone? if we are sovereign country why we have to produce to India

    Monday, 24 May 2010 08:36 AM

This is a big joke. India has not resolved their internal problems since they got independence. How we can believe them. Don't forget India was they main role for empowering of Tamil arms group. They always try to get under control of our country.

    Monday, 24 May 2010 08:47 AM

When people will get to know and vote who will be a real leader for the country? India can be friend but never can say to us do this and that. India is India Sri Lanka is Sri Lanka.

    Monday, 24 May 2010 09:02 AM

I am surprised to see that Hon. Wimal Weerawansa has not made a remark. India is a powerful country in the region and we have a lot of things to do with India at national level hence an endorsement from India is a must to go ahead with the devolution process. But one thing is certain that India will keep a close eye on the implementation of it.

    Monday, 24 May 2010 09:15 AM

HOPE SRI LANKA CAN DRAF A SOLUTION FOR KASHMIR AND OTHER PARTS OF THE INDIAN STATES. IS SRI LANKA IS CROWN COLONY OF INDIA? THIS IS THE BEGINING OF THE INDIAN EXPANTION ? Nobee Perera, DUBAI, UAE
