Police yesterday warned the public not to fall prey to bogus advertisements published in newspapers by unscrupulous groups who especially dupe women and teenage girls offering them chances to act in films and tele-dramas, opportunities to join dancing troupes and promising employment avenues in several institutions and ultimately using them for immoral activities.
They said that several women and girls had complained to the police that they were being abused and exploited after they responded to such newspaper advertisements and internet notices.
Police said notably all such advertisements only carried mobile phone numbers.
They said there were several instances when some women who sought employment in such dubious institutions run under the pretext of spa centres had been sexually exploited and finally ruined their entire future.
The Police Headquarters requests the general public to alert the police on 119 or the nearest police station if they come across any such anti-social activities.
