Flesh of dogs was mixed with venison and other wild animals in Hambantota, officials of the Wildlife Conservation Department said.
Ranger W.A. Gunatunga said organised gangs were killing the drought stricken wild animals that flock to the tanks in search of water. He said venison was a savoury among pilgrims and tourists and that the racketeers had taken its advantage.
He said the heads and offal of dogs killed had been found in the Damana tank reservation area.
Gunatunga said it was not easy to distinguish the flesh of dogs and venison when mixed.
“Information has been received that venison had been sold in the Hambantota, Ambalantota and Hungama areas and the Department has initiated investigations,” he said.
Wildlife Conservation officials requested the pilgrims to Kataragama and tourists to refrain from consuming meat supplied by hunters. (Sanath Gamage)
I think u refer to the first one where we can see the head of a dog. That is really disturbing.. so is the picture of the paws of the dog. I could only think about my dog when i saw this pic and It just feels so bad.

In 1960 the flesh of wild animals was sent to the Govt. Analyst for identification. Has this procedure been abandoned?

Soon they will sell human flesh. Faithful pilgrims will eat tasty meat. Decade ago one restaurant did that. accidentally some one found a part of a human thumb served meat dish on the table. This was a famous story those days.
