Wonder for how long. Basil must be waiting in the wings.

    Wednesday, 21 April 2010 10:01 AM

The tenure will be very short

    Wednesday, 21 April 2010 10:05 AM

He deserves to be the PM for being a loyal member of the party and also being the most senior politician. It is much hoped that he will stand up to the status of PM and uphold the dignity of the country.

    Wednesday, 21 April 2010 10:15 AM

I wish this position went to Mervyn, a great man, with strong leadership qualities whose ancestors are linked to King Dutugemunu

    Wednesday, 21 April 2010 10:23 AM

    Seven months?

    Wednesday, 21 April 2010 10:24 AM

Private sector & Public sector retirement age is 55 cos after that human senses not functioning well. How come a 79 year older runs 2nd most powerful post in SL at that age???

    Wednesday, 21 April 2010 10:30 AM

Good move by MR but is DMJ deserves this!!!

    Wednesday, 21 April 2010 10:39 AM

    gampola

    Wednesday, 21 April 2010 10:41 AM

DM truly deserves this post and he is one of the best among the few true SLFPers still exists in the ruling party.

    Wednesday, 21 April 2010 10:45 AM

Dissanayake Mudiyanse, this is the farewell kiss. You will be history after November.

    Wednesday, 21 April 2010 11:02 AM

Well, This is not the time to sympathies- Country first is the motto- we cannot waste any time with dummies we need action oriented people right now.I mean NOW . People have given a overwelmeing mandate expectIng qucik action on the road to developement , cost of living & unemployment-

Idealy a guy like Basil would have been the best bet among the lot.

We lack a stateman and a visionery who loves are counrty
Sorry we may have to wait till next election to see opening of crash projects- bridges- road, factories.

We are good at Slogons- Matka thitha- Rata prata- Appi wagmu- but no action-

    Wednesday, 21 April 2010 11:36 AM

A dream come true for DMJ.. at least for a short period. Will opposition leader be able to make his dream a reality?

    Wednesday, 21 April 2010 11:44 AM

DJ is not sound when he speaks for some reason or other, nevertheless this position is powerless.

    Wednesday, 21 April 2010 11:47 AM

Might as not well take oath..not like its going to make any difference

    Wednesday, 21 April 2010 11:48 AM

I clearly remember some of our PM's were on wheel chairs when they were appointed as the PM of Sri Lanka !

    Wednesday, 21 April 2010 11:50 AM

We remember what happened at the last general elections.

    Wednesday, 21 April 2010 12:16 PM

    DB Wjethunga Part 2

    Wednesday, 21 April 2010 12:29 PM

Should be given to somebody who is innovative and contructive.

DM is a mere follower. Not a doer.

    Wednesday, 21 April 2010 12:57 PM

    I'm with you!

    Wednesday, 21 April 2010 12:58 PM

You may not want slogans, but the majority of the nation certainly does want em.
    So lets join the bandwagon.

    Wednesday, 21 April 2010 01:22 PM

DM should now move into his official residence -Temple Trees.
    Good luck!!

    Wednesday, 21 April 2010 08:12 AM

Finally, this guy deserves this being in Politics and SLFP for over 4 decades. A Prime Minister from Gampola is welcome since he is a man who did something for people though I am not a SLFP supporter.
