The Army said it had identified the instructors, who areseen in the video footage as punishing several female army soldiers in an unacceptable manner and that disciplinary action would be taken against them.

A video footage showing some Army instructors punishing several female army soldiers in an unacceptable manner was published in a website recently.

“We identified those in the video -- the instructors and the trainees. We also identified the person who recorded the incident. Disciplinary action will be taken against the miscreants if found guilty after the investigation,” spokesman said.

He said the Army had a standard disciplinary system andthese instructors had clearly gone beyond the stipulated conditions laid down for punishment.

“There is no room for anyone violating Army discipline. The Army Commander has instructed that maximum action be against wrongdoers,” the spokesman said.

He said the identification of those was possible because the video was clear unlike video footage released by the Channel-4 TV station.
