Dinesh Chandimal rejects IPL offer

Dinesh Chandimal, Sri Lanka's T20 international skipper and has rejected offers to play in the sixth edition of the IPL, cricket board sources claimed.

Chandimal was not among the 13 Sri Lankan players originally contracted to play in the IPL auction. He is said to have rejected offers from Pune Warriors to fill in the void of the injured Australian captain Michael Clarke and from Delhi Daredevils to replace English batsman Kevin Pietersen, who is also injured.

His rejection came amidst controversy over the Sri Lanka players' participation in the Chennai matches of the IPL.

The ongoing political row with Sri Lanka involving the Tamil Nadu politicians and the resultant ban on Sri Lankan IPL players to play in Chennai has caused public anger in Sri Lanka.

Nationalist organizations have urged the government to ensure that the players boycott of the T20 league.(NDTV)

i think SL players should not boycott the IPL.what they should do is play IPL and bring all the financial resources they get from indian franchise companies to SL and start-up the new charity fund to provide those who need.(eg- establish new cancer hospital,new sports school,etc.)thank you.

ignorant fool !!!. What do you know about cricket? Have u watched any cricket in the last 2-3 yrs to talk like that?? Chandimal is a batsman who have the talent to play test, oneday and T20 like Mahela. He can adapt to any situation, become aggressive when necessary and play the slow game when things are under pressure. That is the class of a great batsman in Chandi. Same as Mahela among the current crop of players. He is the most deserved captain in the SL side. A better cricket brain, leader and a good batsman than Matthews.

Why only this youngster has to sacrifice in the name of the country when politicians are corrupt. Do they think of the country ?. How come politicians build mansions and send their children for overseas education from the salary they get unless they get some other income ?. Is it that hard to find out how much they earn and how much they spend ?. If they are spending more than what they are getting paid, find out where the extra money came from.

We don't know why Dinesh has refused to participate in the IPL.
So we cannot comment on it.
But I do not agree if the players refuse to play in IPL due the Tamil Nadu politics. If the players refuse, that;s what the Tamil Nadu wants ,and the Central government has nothing to say as the players willingly withdrawn from the game.

Lets see which hole these Nationalist organizations run to hide in when the Indians next time send just a couple air crafts filled with parippu like they did during wadamarachchi ops. At the end of the day we are not frogs in a well. We have to tow a middle path like lord Buddha has thought us. Just because we beat the terrorists (a good cause) it does not mean we should be picking fights with every other group (e..g. muslims)/country (e.g. india) we could pick on (a very bad cause). Aren't we truly being seduced by the mirage that we are a mighty power? What will happen when we realize it was just a mirage?

Typical ignorant Sri Lankan. Chandimal was not sold in the auction - so there is no contract and he can decline the offer but others were sold in the auction - they have to go unless they are injured or cricket board stops them. SLC has a contract with BCCI to make the players available for which SLC gets 10% of player earnings. So why blame the cricketers when they cant do anything? Stop being ignorant
