The son-in-law of General Sarath Fonseka, Dhanuna Tilakaratne is still hiding in Sri Lanka and has not fled the country as was speculated at times, police spokesman Priyashantha Jayakody told Daily Mirror online.

The police spokesman said that the passport of Tilakaratne, who is wanted by the police and has an arrest warrant against him over some financial dealings involving General Fonseka, remains blacklisted and as such there is no way he could escape overseas.

Meanwhile military intelligence sources told Daily Mirror online that Dhanuna has been seen by eyewitnesses in Anuradhapura, Embilipitiya and Colombo and even at some night clubs in the city.

The Criminal Investigations Department had recently sought the assistance of the International Police (INTERPOL) to gather information on foreign bank accounts of Tilakaratne.  (Daily Mirror online)

Are you stupid ? Police is not going to catch only "most wanted" criminals. They are searching for everybody. Danuna is on of them.

    Monday, 24 May 2010 06:56 AM

Because there is no law in sri lanka.

    Monday, 24 May 2010 07:05 AM

Then what about the money found in Danuna's monther's Safety locker ??

    Monday, 24 May 2010 07:08 AM

This is better than Houdini. A little fishy though.

    Monday, 24 May 2010 07:10 AM

Catch me if you can - he floats like a butterfly & stings like a bee!

    Monday, 24 May 2010 07:10 AM

are you sure you are talking about sri lanka ? i was in the fort police station yesterday. this guy danuna has something to hide. that why he is running.

    Monday, 24 May 2010 07:39 AM

Dhanuna is not a threat to our lives but the other criminals are... I really dont understand the reason so much money and state officers time spent on this, what a waste....

    Monday, 24 May 2010 07:40 AM

YES, FOR ALMOST ALL THE COUNTRIES, INCLUDING USA

    Monday, 24 May 2010 07:41 AM

HOW DID KARUNA GO TO UK ON A FORGED DIPLOMATIC PASSPORT

    Monday, 24 May 2010 07:43 AM

    You got it... SPOT ON

    Monday, 24 May 2010 07:47 AM

Podimalli, Isn't it good that those guys have fled Sri Lanka? Danuna's case is different, he has to give us our money back, before fleeing the country. He's robbed billions from us with his famous father-in-law.

    Monday, 24 May 2010 07:59 AM

Then robbing is OK with you, is it ???

    Monday, 24 May 2010 06:54 AM

I don't believe this. Can such a person hide like this for five whole months when normalcy prevails in our country ? Something is cooking behind, I guess.

    Monday, 24 May 2010 08:05 AM

No it's out of SPOT !!!

    Monday, 24 May 2010 08:16 AM

robbed billions?? what's sri lanka's population 600 million? you surely are not good wth numbers!

    Monday, 24 May 2010 08:23 AM

"Catch Me If You Can". This guy is superb I must admit!

    Monday, 24 May 2010 08:40 AM

well said Ajantha, if the authorities still could not catch this guy in this small island, I wonder the caliber of our intelligence!

    Monday, 24 May 2010 08:47 AM

who's robbing who?...what happend to the tsunami money?

    Monday, 24 May 2010 09:31 AM

I agree with you Ajantha. Just goes to show how intelligent our intelligence is.

    Monday, 24 May 2010 09:31 AM

HIDE & SEEK GAME PLAYED BY THE FAMOUS C I D

    Monday, 24 May 2010 10:01 AM

    Catch me if you can

    Monday, 24 May 2010 06:44 PM

The laments of these cops sound a lot like those of Thomson and Thompson, in the Tin-Tin books!

    Monday, 24 May 2010 08:20 PM

You can run, but cannot hide forever. Obviously, Dhanuna is hiding because he has something to hide!

    Monday, 24 May 2010 10:47 PM

Any idea about what's happening to Sakvithi, who robbed millions of innocent people's money?

    Monday, 24 May 2010 05:52 AM

Yes Ind, Dhanuna is the most notorious criminal! my foot!

    Monday, 24 May 2010 05:05 AM

Why does UK - EU - grant visa's to known criminals ?
When the average Sri Lankan passport holder is denied even a Tourist Visa to visit relations??

    Monday, 24 May 2010 05:06 AM

    salute to sri lanka police

    Monday, 24 May 2010 05:09 AM

if i were Danuna i d get a bogus passport from the passport office ,change my outlooks and flyaway . I'm sure he's done the same.

    Monday, 24 May 2010 05:23 AM

So if his passport is blacklisted 'there is no way he can escape overseas'? Just grow up men.

    Monday, 24 May 2010 05:25 AM

It is not relevant to the topic !!!

    Monday, 24 May 2010 05:26 AM

And here is another hilarious press release by our great Sri Lankan Police Force. They always seem to know where the wanted men are hiding but can never get them. I guess they simply want to keep us informed that they are still on the job.

    Monday, 24 May 2010 05:26 AM

If SF and Danuna are innocent, why Danuna is hiding ??

    Monday, 24 May 2010 05:27 AM

If he is seen at night clubs why cannot our police pounce on him and have him arrested??? He needs to be brought to justice...

    Monday, 24 May 2010 05:28 AM

Why salute? For not catching him for almost 5 months?

    Monday, 24 May 2010 05:31 AM

Danuna's charges must be much serious than that of those 12 criminlals!

    Monday, 24 May 2010 05:46 AM

Is Dhanuna, the most wanted Criminal in Sri Lanka ?. That's how this Government and Police people are working?. What else to say. This is call "Patriotism" of the Sri Lankan Government.

    Monday, 24 May 2010 04:58 AM

Recently twelve notorious criminals fled the country. They are wanted for murder, extortion, kidnapping and drug trafficking and other various charges. Up to now what are the actions taken to bring them back.

    Monday, 24 May 2010 05:54 AM

We now need interpol to work inside our country ??? what a joke???

    Monday, 24 May 2010 05:58 AM

This is just guess work on the part of the police.

    Monday, 24 May 2010 06:09 AM

Why doesnt the govt leave this family alone. They have won both the elections. Close this matter now once and for all. Its bad for the country and we people are suffering in different ways. Credit is there for MR and SF equally for winning the war against terror.

    Monday, 24 May 2010 06:14 AM

Coz they can show assets in their bank accounts that the average law abiding citizen cannot show. Isnt that simple? You can get citizenship in a lot of countries if you show you are bringing lots of assets. I am not saying the EU countries consider this. But money talks in a lot of places.

    Monday, 24 May 2010 06:17 AM

Tthe police are going in circles...they must be right up there on a scale of intelligence! Why this announcement out of nowhere?

    Monday, 24 May 2010 06:17 AM

What UK-EU consider in giving Visa is not the criminal history of the person. They only check the financial background of the person as to whether he can survive in that country and if required does he have money to come back. So if you have 50laks money in your a/c, you can get VISA.

    Monday, 24 May 2010 06:18 AM

LOL Read the script correctly What it said was

"The Criminal Investigations Department had recently sought the assistance of the International Police (INTERPOL) to gather information on foreign bank accounts of Tilakaratne"

    Monday, 24 May 2010 06:20 AM

So you think the LAW AND ORDER prevail in Sri Lanka where if someone in innocent he will get a relief? Are you in this country? Have you ever gone to a police stattion? Have you ever gone to a court?

    Monday, 24 May 2010 06:46 AM

    Don't blame Police...He is invincible !

    Monday, 24 May 2010 06:49 AM

SF is safe in jail, then why not Danuna ??
