Now that we are not fighting anyone, why should such a large portion of funds be allocated to defense? Should not our priorities be: Job creation, Education, Health, Infrastructure Development, Agriculture and so forth? Why do we still need a bloated armed service?

The Members of Parliament should question each and every cent, as to how it is ging to be spent, and on what.

210 BILLION for a country the size of a pin head on the world map? What madness is this? We need to spend money on development. What portion of the Gross National Product (GNP) is 210 Billion? We should be cutting down the defense budget and not increasing it.
Tuesday, 08 June 2010 07:01 AM
no..we are only going to declare war againts the actors that did not show up for IIFA!
Tuesday, 08 June 2010 07:01 AM
I think this is partly because the Urban Development Authority & some other institutions which are not directly related to Defence is under the ministry of defence.

60Bn for Economic Development while 201Bn for Defence...?
Are these people crazy? country has the good chance to develop the economy with the international attraction it got post war. Without planning for the Country's Development why are they plannig for Defence.
Actually the allocation should have been up side down...
Tuesday, 08 June 2010 05:43 AM
since the war is over, why is this amount of money being pumped to defence, i think this money can be sent to the economic development....
Tuesday, 08 June 2010 05:37 AM

Tuesday, 08 June 2010 05:12 AM
may be we are going to start another war with someone
Tuesday, 08 June 2010 05:07 AM
Now that the war is over - what is the need for such an inflated defence expenditure budget? Now, the budget for health, education and resettlement & rehabilitation are the priority needs - and if these are expanded it is justified. But for defence expenditure?
