Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) founder Rohana Wijeweera’s daughter Easha was arrested this monring after she was alleged to have assaulted her mother and brother, Police said.
Police Headquarters said the incident was said to have taken place on Saturday night at their home located inside the Welisara Navy Camp.
Mr. Wijeweera’s widow Srimathi is reported to have lodged a complaint with the Mahabage police. Their 32-year-old daughter was arrested last morning and produced before the Wattala Magistrate and remanded till June 3. The Mahabage police are investigating.
Following the death of Rohana Wijeweera his family including four daughters and two sons were taken to the Trincomalee China Bay camp and then few years later they were sent to Welisara. Since the death of Mr.Wijeweera his family has been looked after and maintained by the state. (Supun Dias)
