Sathakuppa seeds are said to have a similar appearance cumin seeds but to have some adverse effects on pregnancy. The media spokesman for the Ministry of Cooperatives and Internal Trade, Nipun Ekanayake, quoting a report from an ayurveda expert, said Sathakuppa seeds caused abortions.

There's 21 million people in Sri Lanka and that makes it already one of the most densely populated countries in the world. It is because of our declining birth rate that we have been able to afford a decent standard of living and have a higher GDP per capita ratio than other countries in the region.

Lower birth rates are good for mankind. Who will be feeding the extra mouths and paying for their medical and school bills? You?

What has muslim countries got to do with this? What makes you certain that it was mixed in Pakistan and not in Sri Lanka?

Well, if we stop import and exports with muslim countries, they are not the losers. The biggest income for us is from the remittances, primarliy from muslim countries, the biggest aid is from Iran. Just what will happen to our oil, tea, spices, etc??
