Court production keeper arrested

The Production Keeper of the Galle Chief Magistrate’s Court was taken into custody on suspicion for attempting to change a stock of jewellery that were kept under his charge.

It is alleged that the suspect had handed over a stock of case productions to the Court Registrar to be taken home. The Supervising Officer immediately informed it to the magistrate and made a complaint to police.

During the inquiries the Police recovered imitation jewellery similar to the jewellery that were kept under the charge of the production officer in the court Registrars handbag.

However the Registrar told police that the fake jewellery recovered from her handbag had been handed over to her by the Production Keeper and that she took them home for safety. (D.G.Sugathapala)
