UN Chief Ban Ki-moon calls on the Sri Lankan Government to constructively engage and cooperate with the Office of the High Commissioner on the implementation of the resolution adopted last week by the Human Rights Council.

“…the Secretary-General has consistently underlined the importance of an accountability process for addressing violations of international humanitarian and human rights law in Sri Lanka.  He welcomes the determination by the High Commissioner for Human Rights to advance accountability and promote lasting peace and reconciliation in the country, Deputy Spokesman for the Secretary-General Farhan Haq told media on Tuesday.

He also said: “The Secretary-General calls on the Government of Sri Lanka to constructively engage and cooperate with the Office of the High Commissioner on the implementation of the resolution adopted last week by the Human Rights Council.  He recalls the commitments made to him on accountability by the President of Sri Lanka in their Joint Statement of 2009.  The United Nations will remain engaged with Sri Lanka to support Sri Lanka’s efforts to make progress in accountability, reconciliation and a lasting political solution.”

How can you co-operate with officials like Navi Pillai, who is an enemy of Sri Lanka.

Oh, oh at at last Ban Ki has woken up from his slumber to look at the Moon and offer his two cents worth. It's an accepted notion that Sec Gen of the UN are dependent on US and its lackies for their survival in this prestigious post. So we small nations cannot expect anything better from a mouthpiece. via DM iPad app

Sri Lanka should corporate only if the inquiry is headed by an independent non political personality acceptable to both UN & SL & the period of inquiry should be from 1983 & it should inquire about excesses of ALL parties not just both parties

UN and UNHRC are two different entities though they sow that they are same. UNSG has no business to give instructions which has not come through UN General Assembly.

It looks like Ban and his gang are very keen on governing Sri Lanka and telling us what should we do. UNHCR passed more than 100 resolutions against Israel on HR issues during the last decade. Unfortunately no one in the UN is keen on constructive corporation with the Israeli government because US was against the resolutions. As I always say, let the dogs bark!

Ban-Ki -Moon , please do not bring disgrace to your designation. You know how much you people are biased towards US and UK and other western nations. Today UN is nothing but a propaganda tool of US and the West.
