Controversial gazette notifications passed

One of the three controversial gazette notifications that the opposition claims will legalize casinos was passed in Parliament a short while ago with a majority of 71 votes.

One hundred and thirteen votes were received in favour of the project while 42 were against it and 68 MPs had abstained from voting.

Ven. Aturaliye Ratana Thera was the only government MP who voted against it.

The UNP, TNA and the JVP MPs voted against it.

The notable ministers who were absent when the vote was being taken included Minister Rauff Hakeem,Wimal Weerawansa, Champika Ranawaka and Rishard Bathiudeen. (KB & YP)

    HYPOCRITES PLEASE NOTE . There are more burning issues to tackle in this country.. People do not have money to buy basic foods.. No proper medical facilities for the poor! Public transport ??? Criminal activities, No law and order. Children have no money to buy shoes to wear to school,
    Adult patients have to pay Rs 700 for 4 diapers , Rs. over 5000 per month. This is not fashion wear, ask people who look after their elderly parents,who are confined to bed 24 hours a day

    Apparently the absentees are from the religious minded political entity. They should be barred to enter their respective place of worship.
