A special Parliament session has been scheduled on January 12 to seek the approval to convert parliament into a constitutional assembly.

The decision was taken as several parties have come out with amendments to the resolution to convert the House into a constitutional assembly.

Sources said the joint opposition, JVP and others have already submitted their amendments.

Speaker Karu Jayasuriya, who confirmed that several amendments have been received, said they should be taken into consideration. (Yohan Perera)
