The United States today said that it was concerned about reports of elections violence, particularly troubling have been reports of involvement by ‘uniformed’ individuals in these acts.

Issuing a statement, the US embassy on Provincial Elections said, “we remain concerned about reports of elections violence, however, and urge a transparent and independent investigation into the various attacks and that the perpetrators be brought to justice swiftly.  Particularly troubling have been reports of involvement by uniformed individuals in these acts.”

“We congratulate the people of Sri Lanka on their historic Provincial Council elections on September 21.  The high turn-out and participation in all three of the provinces holding elections is a victory for the democratic process.”

“A process free of violence and intimidation in the Northern Province is required for greater civilian administration and to help further the reconciliation process four years after the war.  These elections provided a starting point for that process.  Democracy is not simply about elections, however, and more must be done to ensure that Sri Lankans of all communities can live in the peace and dignity that they deserve,” the statement.

American ambassador is interfering too much and it is time to give her a warning or expel her from the country. Govt must act now before it's become worse.

A warning to US by SL? What a funny. First clean your backyard before pointing the fingers at some one else. What about the war crime allegations against SL?

And we are concerned about your drones killing women and children daily.

Maybe you should also be telling the US to clean their backyard before interfering in other countries.
As for war crime 'allegations'....well thats all they are the moment till proved beyond doubt.
Don't forget the diaspora also has blood on their hands by raising and sending money to the LTTE who also killed tamils.
