Cocaine seized at airport

A young woman from Thailand was taken into custody by the Police Narcotics Bureau for attempting to smuggle a stock of cocaine valued more than Rs.20 million.

The 22 year old woman who travelled from Bangkok to Peru through Sri Lanka last week was on her way back when she was arrested at Katunayake Airport.

Police said the stock of cocaine decorated as chocolates had been wrapped in a packed in plastic boxes. (Deepa Adikari)
