Inspector General of Police (IGP) N.K. Illangakone said that investigations are presently underway to investigate the series of incidents that took place in Chilaw.

A special team from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has been sent to Chilaw to investigate the shooting. No policemen were injured during the clashes which took place this morning.

A large number of policemen and Special Task Force (STF) personnel were deployed in to the area on Monday when the fishermen began their protest by blocking the main road connecting the Chilaw town. (Supun Dias)

The incident is not fully reported yet. It means that and abuse of state power has taken place and an innocent fishermen has died as a result of the same. The hurry to appoint CID team speak a lot for this government.
