The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has delayed recording a statement today with Danuna Tillekaratne; son-in-law to presidential candidate General Sarath Fonseka, as their work load for today has kept them too busy.

Police Spokesman SSP I.M Karunaratne told Daily Mirror online that the DIG in charge of the Criminal Investigation Department while speaking to him had said that they had ‘too much work’ to do today, and had put off the meeting for this reason.

Danuna Tillekaratne had been asked to appear before the CID today to record a statement, sources close to General Sarath Fonseka told Daily Mirror yesterday. The government has claimed that it possesses documents to prove that General Fonseka's son-in-law profited from arms procurements during the war with the LTTE. (RR)

    Wednesday, 20 January 2010 11:39 AM

    CID... Smelled something...?

    Wednesday, 20 January 2010 11:50 AM

CID people are not babies..... They already know... what's going to happen on 27th !

    Wednesday, 20 January 2010 11:51 AM

They all are busy removing posters !!!

    Wednesday, 20 January 2010 11:54 AM

well other news sources say it was Danuna who has put off the meeting saying he needs to talk to his lawyers first. Wonder who is telling the truth

    Wednesday, 20 January 2010 12:10 PM

Keep up the good work mirror for publishing the truth.

    Wednesday, 20 January 2010 12:16 PM

tamils killed by MR and SF are laughing in the heaven by looking at these people fighting between them. What goes around comes around. Those SINS will backfire on both of them.

    Wednesday, 20 January 2010 12:24 PM

I think CID Officers know wat the out come is on 26 th.

    Wednesday, 20 January 2010 12:29 PM

We are also laughing...But no problem...terrorism is over !. That's what we common people wanted !.

    Wednesday, 20 January 2010 12:30 PM

They couldnot prove a point, so showed the busy thingy. Whatever, i hope, SF catches all these fraudies and teach them a good lesson/......

    Wednesday, 20 January 2010 12:39 PM

CID !! This time you have messed up with something dangerous. If it is a gamarala you locked him up for couple weeks.Isn't it you bunch of shameless clowns?

    Wednesday, 20 January 2010 12:41 PM

CID KNOWS THAT SF WILL WIN....PLAYING IT SAFE BUT THE REGIME WILL PUT FURTHER PRESSURE

    Wednesday, 20 January 2010 12:47 PM

This only proves that the allegations are baseless, defamatory and totally politically motivated.

    Wednesday, 20 January 2010 12:57 PM

This delay is beneficial only to Sarath Fonseka. If an investigation is carried out and the culprits indicted before the date of the election, the Presidents camp could unfairly rejoice in the fallout, but it appears these are not the tactics employed by them.

    Wednesday, 20 January 2010 11:27 AM

    Maha raja failed again....

    Wednesday, 20 January 2010 01:49 PM

National intrest since the election is over...

    Wednesday, 20 January 2010 01:58 PM

Do not laugh Mr.Wimalsuriya thinking that terrorism is over.

If SF wins and tries to given in to demands that he felt that the LTTE asked then was excessive for a minority to expect, then things may change.

UNP and related parties can never solve the ethnic problem. They only complicate simple situation .

This alone means a vote for MR is best even if it means allowing corruption to go on till the issues are resolved.

    Wednesday, 20 January 2010 02:10 PM

CID need more time for fabrication of a suitable case to pin Dauna, as they did with Journalist TISSANAYAGAM.
Next week by 27th Jan, all CID will be answerable to the courts of Law, wait until then.

    Wednesday, 20 January 2010 02:27 PM

As revealed by General SF, Officers of the CID have refused to carry out the illegal requests of their superiors.

    Wednesday, 20 January 2010 02:43 PM

i heard that the CID had refused to question SF's son in law.i heard that the CID would not do this kind of illegal questioning at the behest of political fancies of rulers.if its true, then welldone CID for standing up.

    Wednesday, 20 January 2010 02:45 PM

Here goes Sri lankan CID Very Very Busy Guarding MRs Cutouts/Arresting SFs supporters and Digging Garbage for the betterment for the country.Ha ha ha ha.

    Wednesday, 20 January 2010 03:13 PM

Yes as long as narrow minded people like you are still there the terrorism will not be over. I do not know what do you mean by 'excessive for a minority' what all people want is to live peacefully. That is what SF want and MR pledges. I don't think a person of SF calibre who fought the terrorist risking his life will want to divide teh country as the govt suggest or to see another round of terrorism. Try to understand the reality. What Mr and the gang wants is to survive and hide all corruption activities the money earned through them.

    Wednesday, 20 January 2010 03:23 PM

Dear Cops, if you inquire the politiciens who produced those document you will at least be somewhere.

    Wednesday, 20 January 2010 04:35 PM

the CID officer do your duty in a proper manner. please postpone to 27th jan 2010

    Wednesday, 20 January 2010 04:50 PM

Sour grapes eh! let's try another day?

    Wednesday, 20 January 2010 07:30 PM

The only culprits to be indicted, if an investigation is carried out, would be the ones who brought these frivolous, politically motivated, 'muddy' accusations!

    Wednesday, 20 January 2010 09:23 PM

    Fear of being exposed?

    Wednesday, 20 January 2010 10:24 AM

MR and SF, Sirs, Please do not give a 'consolation win' to the terrorists!! You were part of the greatest team work ever by Sri Lankans.

    Wednesday, 20 January 2010 09:29 AM

Why are they withdrawing? Don't they have the documents they claim to have. Dhanuka, please file an FR case and remove the uniform of all these scoundrels who have become political stooges

    Wednesday, 20 January 2010 09:35 AM

wow what a U TURN WELL DONE MR !!!!, heat is on ...

    Wednesday, 20 January 2010 09:42 AM

Seems the sensational arms scandal that rocked Sri Lanka is not on the important list of the CID after all. For crying out loud, did they not have a better excuse than "too busy"!!!

    Wednesday, 20 January 2010 09:45 AM

Hoops , foot in the mouth...
What arms deal ????????? why was Mahinda Aluthgamage dumstuck and pulling all sorts of papers when inquired by the "Satana Host" to explain what are the are arms imported by SF .

    Wednesday, 20 January 2010 09:45 AM

Obvious, busy in creating violence in the country...so no time for meetings.. he..he...

    Wednesday, 20 January 2010 09:47 AM

Now time to come help sarth fonseka from humanitary assitance that talking about dhamma any one shouldn't be blamed of past (Apathiya ,dasa akorosa) sarath fonseka is not eaqual in quality to mhindha rajapaksa that is true but he also has certain qualities democracy is mesh all should come to under one party and help people ebraham lincon is mad I know that he doesn't know supeioririty of Buddha dhamma or sanga i love all world including animals and caliber on that sf has to vote king mr as he decided previously before he is become a victim

    Wednesday, 20 January 2010 09:49 AM

Danuna has to present himself @ da 4th floor, CID, cos' his great father-in-law defeated the LTTE. Isn't this funny? Is this the gratitude u show a man who has brought PEACE to mother Lanka?

    Wednesday, 20 January 2010 09:49 AM

They are too busy,But what they are doing? people waste their lives in jail without any case against them at courts, without evidence to prove....I think now they may busy since they have to relese all people immediately as per top orders.

    Wednesday, 20 January 2010 09:50 AM

Weldon CID keep up the gud work

    Wednesday, 20 January 2010 10:08 AM

Busy=Could not finish cooking up the story or investigation is revealing what they wanted!

    Wednesday, 20 January 2010 10:11 AM

Put off until 27th morning. CID will have the meeting depending on the election results! Typical banana rebublic..

    Wednesday, 20 January 2010 10:18 AM

    Wednesday, 20 January 2010 09:17 AM

CID seems very busy??? come on guys...we are not dumb as you are

    Wednesday, 20 January 2010 10:28 AM

Why the sudden change of heart.

    Wednesday, 20 January 2010 10:29 AM

So Mr Clean & Corruption Free Sarath Fonseka has made a profit off every bullet fired, through his son-in-law's name. To all those shouting 'corruption', cant imagine how he would abuse his power should he become President on the 27th. This may perhaps also be the last election Sri Lankans might get to vote in for a long time to come.

    Wednesday, 20 January 2010 10:30 AM

    Digging Garbage

    Wednesday, 20 January 2010 10:30 AM

Our CID dept. is so kind , sweet, very good. very obedient and lawful to people. They will never take into custody of honour , innocent people . Do...... never ?Please keep as it is.

    Wednesday, 20 January 2010 10:44 AM

    Sanity prevails. Three Cheers!

    Wednesday, 20 January 2010 10:47 AM

Too busy doing what? Cooking up the books? On a second thought, I'm not surprised too about their busy schedule considering the amount of corruption cases in this country thanks to the brilliant governance of this country.

    Wednesday, 20 January 2010 10:47 AM

Surely drag till closer to 26 th as no evidence but only 'MUD'.

    Wednesday, 20 January 2010 10:54 AM

Ha ha ha ha.... what a joke... they wanted him... he came.... and now they don't know what to do with him.... so they tell " Sorry.. we are too busy".... These police fellows are only good to remove posters...

    Wednesday, 20 January 2010 10:55 AM

Havent others profitted from arms procurements?

    Wednesday, 20 January 2010 10:56 AM

Too busy of doing what ? Oh! may be removing posterts !

    Wednesday, 20 January 2010 11:06 AM

This is because CID knows that these are baseless.
If not CID will take prompt action to investigate these allegations as quick as possible irrespective of their other work as this is very important to the country.NS

    Wednesday, 20 January 2010 11:20 AM

Typical Sri Lankan government sector. They cannot even plan a single day's work load.
