Eyewitness located in Lasantha killing

The CID today informed the Mount Lavinia Magistrate’s court that they had located an eyewitness who had witnessed the killing of Sunday Leader editor Lasantha Wickramatunga. The CID told the court the witness is now being questioned.  

The CID, submitting a report in court, said that the particulars of the eye witness who had seen the killing of Lasantha Wickramatunga could not be revealed for security reasons.

Meanwhile, the CID also informed that the other suspect, Sugath Perera who was in remand custody for stealing the cell phone Mr. Wickramatunga had made contradictory statements. Considering the submissions the Magistrate Harsha Setunga remanded the suspect till February 3.

    Of course, there would have been hundreds of eye witnesses because the murder was carried out in broad daylight. But what is rather hilarious is the Police only now found "one eye witness" just very close to the Elections.
