A Rs. 3 increase in egg prices is likely in the coming weeks due to the shortage of chicken in the island, Chairman of the All Island Poultry Association (AIPA) Dr. D. D. Wanasinghe told Daily Mirror online.
He added that the shortage of eggs was due to the reduction of egg laying hens in the island and that there was a requirement of over 2 lakhs of year old chicks for the coming months to be bred as egg laying hens.
The association had already informed the government of the egg demand of the country and that around one and a half lakhs of year old chicks had to be imported immediately to control the egg prices and maintain a steady supply to the market, Wanasinghe said. (Daily Mirror online)

On the run...when more and more birds are killed the biomass of killing an animal like bull or camel won't be of much difference to the nature life.

The leader of the chickens must be a cockerel similar to Ranil, hence all the chicks are deserting the coup as there is no hope for the future as long as Ranil keeps up his cock a doodle doo!
