Chandrasena now a Dy. Minister

UPFA MP S.M. Chandrasena, who earlier resigned from his cabinet ministerial portfolio, took oaths as Deputy Minister of Agrarian Services and Wildlife before President Mahinda Rajapaksa a short while ago.

Chandrasena was the Minister of Agrarian Services and Wildlife earlier and he resigned from the ministerial portfolio after the Executive Committee of the UPFA told him that two persons in the same family could not hold two ministerial posts simultaneously.

His brother S.M.Ranjith was appointed as the Chief Minister of the North Central Province by President Rajapaksa two weeks ago.

Is it not applicable to the Hon. Speaker and his son, UVA CM? Speaker is more powerfull and above the rank of ministers.

What about His Excellancy President, Hon. Basil Rajapakse, Hon. Speaker? Aren they from the same family or the rule is not applicable to them?

I wonder whether the same rule would apply to the Rajapaksa family, where Mahinda Rajapaksa is the President of the country, his elder borother Chamal Rajapksa is the speaker of the Parliament, younger brother Basil is a cabinet minister and Chamal's son Shashenrda is the chief minister of Uva province.
