SLFP acting General Secretary Duminda Dissanayake today said the swearing-in of the Cabinet would not likely to happen on September 2, as scheduled earlier.

Addressing a news conference, he said a National Government should be formed through parliament and not through political parties.
He said the SLFP’s 64th convention would be held on September 2 in Polonnaruwa and said they had invited all party officials including President Maithripala Sirisena who is the party Chairman, to attend the event.

Meanwhile, former Minister Mahinda Samarasinghe told the media that Sri Lanka was today successfully winning over the international communities and commended the attempts taken by the new government in its foreign policy.

He said the country had lost an opportunity in 2009 to launch a credible domestic probe into alleged war crimes and added the assistance extended by the international community for a domestic probe should not be missed. (SD)

MR was bragging and very happy go to the electric chair on behalf of war heroes. So why back out from the opportunity of accepting the lesser punishment of going to a local prison?

Raizuh Langai Friday, 28 August 2015 08:48 AM

What a shame. Our politicians are squabbling over ministerial portfolios. Are they really interested in the well being of the country or just positions? The future generations will judge on you as the ones who ruined our country. Stick to minimum number of ministries and get on with job given to you by the people of this country. If both major parties cant get to an agreement at least JVP should give a hand to a party which can govern with minimum number of ministers.

    Sikuru Friday, 28 August 2015 08:35 AM

MR betrayed the war heroes in 2010 and took credit for himself

Nihal Amarasekera Friday, 28 August 2015 08:24 AM

Hopefully teething problems and everything will settle down to good governance. If not, teeth will have to end in their stomachs.

    Premalal Thursday, 27 August 2015 04:54 PM

Now that the elections are over and done with it will be their show for the next 6 years. We, the voters will be irrelevant.

    Nash Thursday, 27 August 2015 08:42 PM

What a crime is this? I think this is not acceptable. What kind of a future can we expect for our country?

    SIm Thursday, 27 August 2015 08:32 PM

Form government without SLFP whose members are interested only in minestrial posts. If the government work for the welfare of the people the opposition will support.

    Mason Thursday, 27 August 2015 06:17 PM

    Mason Thursday, 27 August 2015 06:12 PM

Was not Mahinda Samarasinghe who led the team to UN. He played a different tune then. It sounds different now.No wonder it is said that politicians cannot be trusted.

de silva Thursday, 27 August 2015 06:12 PM

Why is that because the two traitors from the estate community wants two minister posts.

    Sikuru Thursday, 27 August 2015 06:00 PM

UPFA is being greedy as usual the UNP should make a govt of their own or Sri Lanka will not be stable

patriot (TM) Thursday, 27 August 2015 05:20 PM
