The Cabinet has decided to interdict Railway General Manager R. P. Wijesekara until the court case involving him on the misappropriation of funds is over, Government sources said.
Earlier, Transport Minister Kumara Welgama said that neither he nor his Secretary had the right to interdict Wijesekara. The matter was referred to the Cabinet this evening and the Minister was instructed to take action to interdict the General Manager.
Wijesekara has been accused of misappropriating Rs. 10 million. The Bribery Commission had conducted investigations into this allegation and filed a prima facie case against him.
