Bank of Ceylon (BoC) General Manager D.M.Gunasekera has been suspended with immediate effect.

Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayke said the suspension has been carried out on many grounds including misuse of power and corruptions.

It is learnt that in 2011, Bank of Ceylon opened up a branch in Seychelles-a country considered as one of the fastest growing tax havens in the world-during the time of the previous regime, without the permission of the Bank of Ceylon. (Yohan Perera)

Why the innocent man was suspended when the person behind the real scenes is still working at NSB after retiring BOC. Nevertheless, these institution need professional approach and the right profile people with good personalities should be brought in. This is great reputation loss to the government because this man is in overt and this displays government bankruptcy of not being able to catch the people who have done billions of rupees. Why the governor is on leave when this person is suspended?

Only thing the innocent man has to do is to divulge the truth of the real people who were involved and the money they transferred to those accounts in overseas banks. Simple as that!!!
