Brutal assault on mentally retarded ex-soldier

A former soldier now mentally retarded suffered several head injuries when a young woman assaulted him with her high heeled shoes.

The soldier was demobilized when found suffering from severe mental trauma after being caught in a landmine explosion during the height of war in 1998 at Batticaloa.

He is said to have accidently knocked against the woman during the rush hour and the young woman thinking he had done it on purpose had gone berserk assaulting him unmercifully.

The 42-year-old retired soldier was admitted to the Gokarella Hospital. He later complained to police. (Mohamed Buhardeen)

First of all a mentally retarded person should not be roaming the streets, he should be in a hospital for the mentally ill. Secondly, nobody has the right to be so high-handed and assault another person, except perhaps in self defence. She should have reported him to the proper authorities

Whilst our sympathies are with the ex soldier we cannot predict the behaviour of a mentally disturbed person. The girl in question wouldnt have reacted the way did she unless she felt she was under threat or harassed. via DM iPad app
