New Delhi — Japanese Embassy officials in Sri Lanka on Saturday confirmed that a Japanese woman who disappeared with her husband from a resort in the Maldives is dead and that local police presume she drowned. Her husband remains missing.
The woman's body was found last Sunday on a beach near the Adaaran Select Hudhuranfushi resort, five days after the couple were reported missing.
Local police said a DNA test confirmed the identity of the 28-year-old woman, whose name was not made public.
