Batti Mayor to remain with SLFP

Batticaloa Mayor Sivageetha Prabakaran says that she will remain with the Sri Lankan Freedom Party (SLFP) and will not be rejoining her former party the Thamil Makkal Viduthalai Pullikal (TMVP).

Mrs. Prabakaran told reporters that despite speculation from some quarters that she would be re-joining her former party; her alliances would remain with the SLFP.

Mrs. Prabakaran had also added that she had extended support to the opposition common candidate General Sarath Fonseka at the recently concluded presidential elections, whilst remaining with the SLFP, like that of her colleague Arjuna Ranatunga
