To promote the World Cup and to encourage the cricketers the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mahinda Balasuriya has taken a decision to allow spectators to take posters, banners and other propaganda materials to World Cup venues following several appeals by the public.

Music to all World Cup venues is being provided by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) therefore the spectators do not need to bring music groups and musical instruments, the police said.

If the spectators want to bring in music to the grounds they have to take permission from SLC. (Supun Dias)

    AJ Sunday, 20 February 2011 01:58 PM

Just the papare DJ music is going on during the breaks....and have seen some bongo drummers near the rope..( i don't understand what they are trying to promote here..since they are not even traditional drummers) ...if SLCB organise papare's it has to be real papare not the DJ music...i suggest IGP to visit some college big matches at least...to feel what a papre could do to keep the crowd alive..in a match..

    Thinuka Sunday, 20 February 2011 01:52 PM

yes.. its something uniqe.. Without papare.. no real feeling..

    nw Sunday, 20 February 2011 01:02 PM

Thank u for that. But papare is the real thing unlike music provided by SLC.
