The fishermen who disappeared on board the fishing vessel Sankara Putha 02 who were found in Sumatra will be returning to the island at five this evening.

Five fishermen from Balapitiya went missing on the 2nd of November last year; they were subsequently found near Sumatra and will return to the island onboard a Mihin Lanka flight.

The group was rescued by the Indonesian Navy. The Indonesian Government had launched an air-sea rescue operation to locate the fishermen once officials there had been informed of the situation. (DS)
