Bala Tampoe passes away

Lawyer and senior trade union activist Bala Tampoe passed away at the age of 92 in a private hospital this afternoon. He was the General Secretary of the Ceylon Mercantile, Industrial and General Workers Union and a member of the Lanka Sama Samaja Party (LSSP).

    I remember Bala Tampoe from when working as a young trainee assistant at Millers. His passion for the workers was sincere and made me a life long trade unionist. May he rest in peace.
