Badulla PS Chairman arrested

The Chairman of the Badulla Pradeshiya Sabha was arrested by the police today over an alleged assault on a woman in the area.

She lodged a complaint with the police accusing that the Chairman, a member of the ruling United National Peoples Alliance (UPFA) had stormed into her house last night with a group of men.

He was produced in courts and was released on bail, police media spokesman Prishantha Jayakody said. (SD)

Being the Chairman, he thought that he has a right to storm into any abode in the area under his control. This is what happens when nominations are given to every Tom, Dick and Harry without screening the candidates properly.
