The Meteorology Department said today heavy rain falls exceeding 150 mm could be expected over most parts of the country specially in the Central, North-central, Eastern, Uva and Southern provinces.

The Department issuing a sever weather advisory valid for next 24 hours starting from 9.00 a.m. today said cloudy skies with showers or thundershowers would occur over most parts of the island as the atmospheric disturbance was still affecting the weather over the country.

Occasional showers would continue to prevail over the deep and shallow sea areas off Eastern and Southern coasts too, it said.
